Have you tried self-care as a treatment option? If so, what and how did it work? If not, why not?4/9/2015

I have been influenced by the impression that I could treat myself when it came down to a health problem I was having. I have had UTI infections in the past and looked into more natural ways to treat them at home. For example, some online sources suggested these concentrated cranberry pills and drinking apple cider vinegar and baking soda to counteract the bacteria. The symptoms lasted a while, but once I started taking the pills and drinking the concoctions they subsided, and I was clear within a couple of weeks without having to go to a doctor. I think with the right precaution and knowledge one can efficiently try to treat their condition on their own at home.

I practice myofascial self release…aka foam rolling and physical therapy type techniques to work out knots, and improve my range of motion. It really helps with recovery after working out. I like it because I can treat myself and deal with most issues I have without having to go see a doctor. I also have an EMS machine which help dramatically with recovery after brutal workouts.it basically uses electrode pads to stimulate the lymphatic system to improve recovery and blood flow. a little pricey, but I think it is worth it over the long term.

I have not personally self treated myself but a few friends of mine have used plain yogurt to treat Bacterial Vaginosis, they would use a insert and fill it with yogurt and insert it inside their vagina for up to five days and it is gone. Mind boggling, I know but it works. At least for them...

I've never really tried self care as an option as I've usually gone to the doctors for something that I think is serious but I don't get sick very much at all so I've never really considered the self care option but I would look into it more to make the best decision for myself about it as it is a good strategy for dealing with minor things such as colds.
